Professional Relationship
The relationship between client(s) and Dr. Jennifer Wilson, LCSW is a professional therapeutic relationship. This relationship is bound by law, ethics, and our mutual understanding of its professional nature. The therapeutic relationship is not a friendship, though it will contain some friendliness.
Nature of Services
Dr. Jennifer Wilson provides individual therapy, couples therapy, and intensive package programs. Sessions are conducted in a confidential setting either in-person at the St. Augustine Beach or Jacksonville, Florida office, or via secure telehealth platform. Therapy involves exploring your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships to support growth and change.
Appointments & Scheduling
Sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement. Regular sessions are typically 50 minutes (individual) or 60 minutes (couples). Your appointment time is reserved for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so with at least 48 hours' notice.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Cancellations or rescheduling made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee. This applies to sessions canceled without notice. Exceptions may be made for genuine emergencies in circumstances beyond your control. Repeated cancellations or no-shows may impact your ability to continue therapy.
Fees & Payment
Current rates are:
- Individual therapy: $200 per 50-minute session
- Couples therapy: $300 per 60-minute session
- Intensives: costs vary
Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept cash, check, and digital payment. I provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement; however, I am not a credentialed provider with insurance companies.
Confidentiality & Privacy
All information disclosed in therapy is confidential and protected by law. I will not release information or records about you without your written consent, except as required by law. Exceptions to confidentiality include:
- Suspected child abuse or neglect
- Suspected abuse of vulnerable adults or elders
- Danger to yourself or others
- Court-ordered disclosure
- Public health threats
In these situations, I am required by law to report to appropriate authorities. If I have concerns about your safety or the safety of others, I will discuss these concerns with you directly unless doing so would increase danger.
Communication & Contact
You may reach out via email (hello@drjenniferwilson.com) for scheduling, cancellations, or urgent matters between sessions. I aim to respond within 24 business hours. Email should not be used for crisis situations. In a mental health crisis, contact 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
I do not use text messaging, social media, or other informal communication channels for therapeutic communication. This protects your privacy and maintains professional boundaries.
Telehealth Services
If we conduct sessions via telehealth, you agree to:
- Use a private, secure location for sessions
- Use a secure, encrypted video platform only (no phone calls or insecure platforms)
- Not record sessions without written permission
- Understand that internet-based communication carries inherent risks
- Notify me of any technical issues that may impact session quality
Termination of Therapy
You may end therapy at any time. I ask that you discuss your reasons and concerns before terminating, as this can provide valuable closure. I reserve the right to terminate therapy if:
- The therapeutic relationship is no longer beneficial
- I determine you would benefit from a different provider or modality
- There are repeated violations of agreed-upon terms
- The therapeutic relationship becomes unsafe
If I recommend termination, I will discuss this with you and attempt to refer you to an appropriate alternative provider.
Client Records
I maintain clinical records of our work together. These records are kept confidential and secure. You may request access to your records by submitting a written request. There may be costs associated with copying and mailing records. Records are maintained in compliance with HIPAA and Florida state law.
Social Media & Dual Relationships
I do not accept friend requests or follow social media accounts of current or recent former clients. This maintains professional boundaries and protects your privacy. Any contact outside of therapy sessions should be professional and related to your therapeutic care.
Limitations of Therapy
While therapy can be tremendously helpful, it is not a guarantee of change. Progress depends on your willingness to engage, your efforts outside of sessions, and factors beyond our control. I cannot guarantee specific outcomes, but I commit to working with you authentically and skillfully toward your goals.
Consent to Treatment
By engaging in therapy, you acknowledge that you understand these terms, agree to them, and consent to treatment with Dr. Jennifer Wilson. You understand that therapy involves exploration of sensitive topics and that discussing these may be uncomfortable. You agree to communicate openly about your experience and concerns.
